Energy Insight 2018 - Week 15

Your regular snapshot of the wholesale energy markets

NBP and UK Power prompt prices shed the most value during Week 14 as fears of a cold start to April dissipated. Premium had been priced into UK energy markets towards the end of March as concerns mounted that the beginning of April would be 0-2 degrees below seasonal average, however temperature forecasts were revised upwards for Week 14 which eased prices on the prompt and near curve. A flurry of LNG helped to ensure that the gas system was balanced, with the UK receiving 3 cargoes during the week which saw LNG send-out hit its highest level since the extreme cold spell on 2nd March 2018.
