At the beginning of last week, summertime demand heaped pressure on the prompt curve. British demand was around 20% below seasonal averages on Tuesday, with weather forecasts from WSI showing that temperatures were expected to be 2-6⁰C above seasonal averages through to the weekend. Renewable output increased, with wind and solar generation accounting for nearly 40% of electricity demand. Midweek bullishness on the Brent crude oil market influenced price increases on the NBP and UK power market, even though demand continued to drop. Outages hampered the Kollsnes processing plant and Heimdal gas field, Gassco data showed.
